The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) released their 2017 “State of LD” report and hired Belfort Group (BG) to build brand awareness locally, regionally and nationally. BG’s goals were to establish the State of LD report as an authoritative source for information on learning disabilities, position NCLD faculty as expert sources on LD, and break down the stigma surrounding learning disabilities.
BG created both a national and local media strategy built around two themes: A) 1 in 5 people in the United States are coping with learning and attention issues; and B) the report is a valuable tool in telling the LD story, especially in light of the Endrew F. Supreme Court decision which ruled it wasn’t enough for school districts to offer minimal instruction for students with disabilities. We helped NCLD leadership prepare for media interviews and crafted pitch letters and media lists for top publications. BG jumped in on the conversation surrounding the Endrew F. decision by sending out quotes to national media from NCLD president Mimi Corcoran.
BG secured organic placements in over 30 outlets, including NPR, Education Week and the Houston Chronicle, reaching a total of 155 million Unique Monthly Visitors. In addition, we secured 258 online postings stemming from the national press release on Business Wire.
