Belfort Group (BG) was tasked with developing an awareness campaign to launch CloudSolar’s Indiegogo fundraising effort to achieve their $300,000 fundraising goal. Our strategy was to generate media coverage for CloudSolar’s Indiegogo campaign launch to garner support and generate contributions towards the fundraising goal leveraging local and national trade, consumer and business media.
BG worked with CloudSolar to understand and promote this new business model and the first-of-its-kind venture within the solar movement by telling the story about how the concept was conceived leading up to, during, and following the launch. BG developed pitches targeting business, entrepreneurism, startup, technology and renewable energy outlets.
The campaign raised $445,000—exceeding CloudSolar’s original goal of $300,00 by 150%. Over the course of the one-month launch campaign, BG secured 16 print, broadcast and digital media placements for CloudSolar. Local coverage included the Boston Globe (print and online), Boston Business Journal, Boston.com and WBUR-FM’s “Here & Now.” National coverage included Fast Company, Inc., Gigaom, TechCrunch, Yahoo! Finance, Synacor, MarketWatch, Dallas News, Mercury News, Charlotte Observer and Benzinga.com.
