The Opportunity

The Dartmouth cannabis expansion began when Casco Botanical Department, a Maine-based cannabis company, identified an opportunity to grow its presence in Massachusetts. The company aimed to establish a facility in Dartmouth, which required local approvals and strong community support.

To navigate this process, Casco Botanical Department partnered with Belfort Group (BG) to lead a strategic communications initiative. The goal of the Dartmouth cannabis expansion was to educate residents about Casco’s plans while fostering transparency and positive engagement with the local community.

The Strategy

To achieve their objectives, Casco Botanical Department collaborated with the BG creative team. Together, they developed a strategy focused on creating a dedicated campaign website (not currently live) as an informative hub. They also designed printed mailers and distributed them to community members who would be voting on Casco Botanical Department’s approval in Dartmouth. These mailers highlighted the benefits and importance of Casco Botanical Department establishing a presence in the community.

The Results

The Dartmouth cannabis expansion campaign successfully raised awareness and encouraged active participation in the approval process. The website and printed mailers allowed residents to easily understand the project. They also gave community members the opportunity to ask questions and feel confident in the company’s intentions.

Through this multi-channel approach, Casco Botanical Department strengthened its relationship with the Dartmouth community. The campaign demonstrated how thoughtful communications and strategic outreach can build understanding, support, and trust for a business entering a new market.
